I am intrigued...can't wait to see this. I adore The September Issue, I am one of the millions who purchase it religiously. Anyways, can't wait.

Also some other cute twins photos...here. Mine are still in the NICU - but I am hoping they will be coming home soon.

They have arrived!

This will be brief...but the twins have arrived! They are one week old today. One girl and one boy. They came six weeks early - but they are a good size. Still need some time to mature in the NICU - but both are doing wonderfully!!

I may be busy but will try to keep up my blog. So hopefully you will all continue to stop by. Well, I am off to eat and sleep, ciao!

Tired

This is how I feel most mornings. I am nearing the end of my pregnancy and the exhaustion is getting to be unbearable. Not sure how women carry more than two babies at a time - it seriously is taking a toll on my body!

But, there is still so many things I want to finish before these babies arrive. So many projects I know I will not get a chance to work on once they are here. As well, I want to be spending some quality time with my Little Love. So, I am also trying to fit in walks in the park, visits to the zoo - anything that makes this little girl smile. She is so much fun to be with - and I want to enjoy this time we have before our lives get a little busier!

So despite my body screaming for a nap...some days I forgo it in order to fit it all in. Sigh.

Mail pocket

Inspired by these fabulous items...I decided to try my own. I made mine slightly larger...but may try a smaller size the next time round. I used up some scrap fabric I had - but I do adore the Japanese fabrics she uses. I may also try embellishing mine with some embroidery - we'll see. All in all, an easy project - and no pattern - woohoo!

Take a moment

My fabulous sister saved me this year by offering to be my childcare as I returned to work part time last fall. It was wonderful to know that my Little Love was well taken care of, and that she was enjoying spending time with her Aunt and her nephews. Truly I couldn't thank my sister enough for this 'piece of mind'...and I wanted to give her a gift that helped her take time for herself. So, I made her a "Take A Moment" basket full of little things she can do to 'take a moment' for herself. Each item came with a quote that corresponded with the item...and hopefully captured the "take a moment" theme!!

Pom-pom skirt

A quick and simple summer skirt - with pom poms, making it more fun to shimmy shake! This one is a little long for my Little Love - but by August I am sure it will fit perfectly!

Easy Knits for little kids

I received this wonderful book from my kind, thoughtful sister. It is full of fabulous hand knit projects - that couldn't be more adorable!! I would love to learn how to knit...one of these days - but may not get around to it before the twins arrive. In the meantime I have been earmarking the projects I adore and checking out such lovely talent here and here. All in due time, right?!

Simple fun

It's amazing how much fun a large box can be. This one is designed and constructed by Dada. It is her hideout for reading books, and her place to put things. Imagination is priceless...and so cheap!!

Felt Food

Ok, who knew how tedious handmade felt food could be!!! Thus my Little Love is only receiving 8 strawberries to play with. The rest may have to be bought! But, it is a fun project to do as you can complete it whilst outside, on a road trip, watching TV - which I did. All in all, I think she likes them - so here's hoping they don't get lost!

Baby Quilt

I finished my first baby quilt. Inspired by these lovely quilts, it was quite a basic attempt. I used a blanket purchased from Walmart for the backing (suprisingly cheaper than our local fabric store).

I sewed the patchwork together, then sewed the patchwork to the yellow backing right sides together. Turned it right side out and then topstitched.

All in all I am very happy with the result...and I am excited to make another. I do love the look of quilts.

Do we like these?

These are the newest TOMS shoe...the wrap boot. I do love a fabulous pair of boots - and these I am guessing would be a lot lighter to wear than your typical wool or leather. But do we like them?

The Shirt Dress

I finally finished the shirt dress by made. I struggled a little with it, but the elastic sleeves and neck line seems to be quite forgiving - and hides alot of my flaws. But all in all my first attempt seems to be a success! Also go check out Dana's blog to see more fabulous creations by other ladies - so many creative women!!

Chicago!

So, Chicago was wonderful. We visited the Sears Tower, Millenium Park, the Frank Lloyd Wright Robie House, the Chicago University Campus. The weather was beautiful the first evening but the next two days were a bit overcast and rainy...so it was good not to pre-purchase our ball game tix. But we did get rush seat for Jersey Boys - which was fantastic. I wasn't the best explorer on foot - but managed to do ok despite being about 27 weeks along. I highly recommend this city to anyone -tons to see and do!

Embroidered baby hats

So, I have made these hats before. I used an old t-shirt and then embroidered along the bottom. Not being the most skilled 'embroiderer' I chose a relatively simple pattern...and did only one on each. Although I am thinking they may have been cuter with three little fruits along the bottom. Either way I had so much fun doing the embroidery, I am trying to think of other items I could embroider on!

P.S. the hat pattern is from here.

The winner is...

Alison...congratulations!! Please email me at wells.maryanne@gmail.com with your mailing address information. I hope you enjoy your new tote!

Giveaway!

So, it is a bit early for my one year anniversary - but I couldn't wait.

This tote bag is made out of very soft cream linen and lined with Denyse Schmidt polka dot fabric. The exterior quilt blocks are Japanese linen fabric. Inside there is one pocket, and the straps are nice and long. It should be a great tote to carry library books...or whatever else you love to haul around! My creations of course are never perfect - but it should be quite sturdy. I usually wash mine in cold water and hang to dry.

Projects

These are a couple projects I would like to finish before the twins arrive. Not sure I will, as they are a little further down on the "to-do list". But, aren't they fantastic!!

A beautifully simplistic quilt by katie did. Probably a good basic quilt for me to start on, and the result is such a clean modern look. Instructions are found here.

A wonderful way to repurpose clothes...an adorable sundress made from a men's dress shirt, made by "made." I love how it looks and I love how it holds a memory. Instructions from here.

Fish pants

I have had this pattern cut out for a while now. Although I realize pants are not that complicated to sew, I seem to always mess them up. So, I have procrastinated sewing these. But, I adore this fabric - it is by Heather Ross and it is so soft! I finished the hem with brown bias tape, and I quite like the contrast.

I also like using a contrasting fabric for the hem...but once again I am not very good at it. I suppose 'practice makes perfect'...so perhaps I will try a few more! I sewed the pants my Little Love is wearing below...but now realize you can't see the contrasting fabric hem. But, I included the photo anyways because she is pretending to have babies in her belly like mama. So funny!
